Logging Meals
Logging meals is the heart of Nouri. There are five ways to log a meal — all leading to the same quick review-and-save flow.
The five ways
- Photo recognition. Snap a picture of your plate. The AI identifies the foods and estimates calories and macros (protein, carbs, fat).
- Describe it in words. Type or dictate "oatmeal with banana and almond butter" and Nouri works out the nutrition.
- Barcode scan. Scan a packaged product for instant nutrition facts.
- Search the food library. Look up foods from a nutrition database.
- Manual entry. Full control when you want it.
The review screen
Every result lands in a review screen where you can:
- adjust portions and correct individual items,
- set the meal type (breakfast / lunch / dinner / snack),
- set the time,
then save. Nothing is logged without your confirmation.
Getting the best recognition
- Shoot in good light, from above, so every component is visible.
- If something's off, just fix it in the review screen — Nouri won't remember the wrong guess.
- For packaged products, the barcode scan is the most accurate.
Where the data goes
Saved meals appear in your Home timeline and Journal, and count toward your daily rings. If you allow it, Nouri also writes them back to Apple Health.
